Historical Note: The Association of Librarians in the History of the Health Sciences (ALHHS) was founded in 1975. The name of the organization changed to Archivists and Librarians in the History of the Health Sciences in 1992. The Medical Museums Association (MeMA) was founded in 1985. In 2019, ALHHS and MeMA members voted to become one organization. In 2020, the membership voted to change the organization’s name to Librarians, Archivists and Museum Professionals in the History of the Health Sciences (LAMPHHS).
Lisabeth M. Holloway Award
ALHHS established the Lisabeth M. Holloway Award in 1992 to honor one of the association’s founders and long‐time editor of The Watermark. This award recognizes significant contributions through leadership and service to ALHHS and the profession.

Publication Award
The Publication Award, established by ALHHS in 1992, is awarded to the author(s) of a publication related to the history of the health care sciences, or works on the bibliography, librarianship and/or curatorship of historical collections in the health care sciences, published in academic, trade or private publishers within the three years prior to presentation of the award.

Travel Scholarships
ALHHS/MeMA awards up to four annual conference travel stipends to members of the organization who are staff, volunteers, students, or early career professionals working for health science history museums, libraries, or archives. The purpose of these awards is to encourage and support continued education and professional engagement for those working in the field.
